Iran has said that progress was made and understanding reached on several issues, but unresolved disagreements on a few major points ultimately prevented a final agreement in the latest round of negotiations.
The Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai, citing Foreign Ministry spokesperson Dr. Esmail Baghaei, said the discussions covered a broad set of topics and saw movement on multiple fronts. However, he noted that differences on two to three key issues remained unresolved, which stalled efforts to finalize a deal.
Baghaei said the negotiations lasted approximately 24 to 25 hours, making it the longest continuous round of talks in the past year. Despite the extended duration and detailed engagement between both sides, the remaining gaps proved too significant to bridge.
Officials did not disclose the exact areas of disagreement but confirmed that discussions were extensive and technical in nature, involving sustained exchanges over an extended period.
While no agreement was reached, Iranian officials suggested that the partial convergence on several issues indicated that diplomatic engagement is still ongoing and not entirely stalled.
