Iran has outlined a set of initial conditions for a potential ceasefire with the United States and Israel, according to a Reuters report, highlighting significant demands that could complicate any path to de-escalation.
Among the key points, Tehran is seeking financial compensation for losses suffered during the conflict, signaling its intent to secure reparations as part of any agreement.
The proposal also includes a call for formal authority over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes, a move that could carry major geopolitical and economic consequences.
In addition, Iran is pushing for firm security assurances to guard against future military action, reflecting ongoing concerns about external threats.
Notably, the demands reject any restrictions on Iran’s ballistic missile program, maintaining that its defense capabilities remain non-negotiable.
While the terms are described as preliminary and have yet to receive official confirmation, they underscore the wide gaps that remain between the parties, suggesting that any ceasefire negotiations are likely to face serious challenges.
