The federal government has approved a plan to build a world-class zoo and safari park in Islamabad, covering an area of 200 acres.
The project, expected to be completed in phases, will feature over 5,000 animals and birds, with 2,000 in the first phase.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed the registration of the zoo and safari park with the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The project aims to provide international standard recreational facilities to the citizens of Islamabad.
The zoo and safari park will not only promote tourism in Islamabad but also provide a unique opportunity for education and research. The project is expected to be completed soon, with the groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for October.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has already approved the hiring of a consultant for the project, and work is expected to begin soon. The CDA chairman, Muhammad Ali Rindhawa, briefed the meeting on the project’s progress, and the authorities are committed to completing the project according to the rules and regulations.
