The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released updated casualty figures on Monday, confirming that 51 individuals were martyred during recent Indian strikes against Pakistan, including 11 armed forces personnel and 40 civilians.
According to the military’s media wing, the “barbaric” Indian attacks on the night of May 6-7 targeted innocent civilians, including women, children, and the elderly. “These barbaric strikes resulted in the martyrdom of 40 civilians — among them 7 women and 15 children — while 121 others sustained injuries, including 10 women and 27 children,” the ISPR statement detailed.
In response to this aggression, Pakistan’s armed forces launched “Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos” under the banner of “Marka-e-Haq,” conducting what they described as precise and retributive strikes against Indian military targets across multiple regions.
During the defense of Pakistan’s sovereignty, 11 military personnel embraced martyrdom and 78 were wounded. The ISPR released the names of the martyred personnel, which included six Pakistan Army soldiers: Naik Abdul Rehman, Lance Naik Dilawar Khan, Lance Naik Ikramullah, Naik Waqar Khalid, Sepoy Muhammad Adeel Akbar, and Sepoy Nisar. The Pakistan Air Force lost five personnel: Squadron Leader Usman Yousuf, Chief Technician Aurangzeb, Senior Technician Najeeb, Corporal Technician Farooq, and Senior Technician Mubashir.
The ISPR described the sacrifices of the martyrs as “an enduring symbol of courage, devotion, and unwavering patriotism — etched forever in the nation’s memory.”
The military’s media wing emphasized that Pakistan’s armed forces, together with the nation, pay solemn tribute to the martyred civilians and military personnel while offering prayers for the swift recovery of the injured.
The statement concluded with a stern warning: “The nation remains resolute in the face of aggression. Let there be no ambiguity: any attempt to challenge Pakistan’s sovereignty or territorial integrity, ever again, shall be met with a swift, full-spectrum, and decisive response Inshallah.”
The military confrontation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors lasted approximately 87 hours before ending on May 10 with a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States. India had claimed its initial strikes were targeting “terrorist targets” in response to last month’s Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
