In a move ahead of the usual fortnightly schedule, the federal government announced a reduction in petroleum product prices on Tuesday. Effective from August 14th, the price of petrol has been decreased by Rs. 8.47 per liter, bringing it down to Rs. 260.96. Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs. 6.70 per liter to Rs. 266.07.
The reduction in fuel prices provides significant relief for the public just in time for Independence Day, as the country prepares to celebrate 77 years of independence tomorrow, August 14.
This reduction is attributed to a decline in oil prices in the international market.
It’s worth noting that during the last fortnightly review, the government had already reduced the price of petrol by Rs. 6.17 per liter and high-speed diesel by Rs. 10.86 per liter.
