In anticipation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest scheduled for November 24, the Grand Trunk (GT) Road has been completely blocked with containers on both sides of the Chenab River bridge in Gujrat.
According to BBC Urdu, barriers have been placed at various checkpoints, including Sadhoke and Nandipur, as well as in Jhelum, Kamoke, Shahdara, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal, Hafizabad, and Sheikhupura, causing significant disruptions on the GT Road.
The complete closure of the GT Road at the Chenab River bridge has resulted in long lines of vehicles, causing severe inconvenience to travelers. A heavy police presence has been deployed on both bridges over the Chenab River.
In Islamabad, the administration has decided to block the city from 24 locations in response to the PTI protest planned at D-Chowk. Measures will be adjusted according to the situation.
Our correspondent, Shehzad Malik, reports that strict monitoring and a heavy police presence are being established at all entry and exit points of Islamabad.
Containers are being placed on Murree Road to block routes leading into Islamabad, and Rawat T-Chowk is also being barricaded. A double layer of containers will be set up at the Faizabad entry point to Islamabad.
The entry point at 26 Number will be closed, and the Srinagar Highway entry into Islamabad will be blocked with containers. Similarly, containers will be placed on New Margalla Road at Iran Avenue, and the 26 Number Chungi will be sealed from the Taxila side.
Additionally, Faizabad, Sector I-8, IJP Double Road, and Margalla Road will be closed with containers. Containers will also be placed at Sangjani Faizabad, Sector G-11 Chowk, Golra Mor Flyover, and Underpass.
In the event of a protest, it has been decided to completely seal the Red Zone.
