In response to an upcoming protest in Islamabad, the federal government is planning a partial suspension of internet and mobile services, alongside the activation of a new national firewall, according to sources.
The potential suspension is expected to impact various districts in Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab starting November 23, which falls on a Saturday. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is reportedly considering the activation of the new firewall on mobile internet services as early as November 22, Friday. This measure is anticipated to further slow internet speeds and limit the ability of citizens to download videos and audio from social media platforms.
Authorities have indicated that disruptions to internet and mobile services could occur at any moment in specific areas, contingent on the evolving situation during the protest.
