The federal government has launched a pilot version of Beep, a secure communication application for government employees, across three key divisions, officials from the National Information Technology Board confirmed.
The app is currently being tested in the Cabinet Division, Planning Division, and IT Division, where employee accounts have been set up and initial usage has begun. Staff and officers are actively using the platform for internal messaging, while training sessions are being conducted in other ministries to familiarize employees with its features.
Beep is designed to enhance secure digital communication within government departments and reduce dependence on external messaging platforms. The system has completed its security audit and has been submitted to the Federal Government of Pakistan for formal approval. Its rollout will continue in phases across additional ministries and divisions.
Developed locally by the National Information Technology Board, Beep supports audio and video calls, video conferencing, and secure document transfers, positioning it as a safer alternative to popular platforms like WhatsApp and Zoom. A final decision on its official nationwide launch will be taken by the federal government.
