The federal government has removed Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhawa from his role as Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), appointing Lt. (Retd) Sohail Ashraf as his successor.

The Cabinet Division issued an official notification following approval from the federal government, confirming the administrative reshuffle in the federal capital’s top leadership.

Lt. (Retd) Sohail Ashraf, a Grade-20 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), was previously serving in the Punjab government as Secretary Communications and Works. Over the course of his civil service career, he has also held key field positions, including Deputy Commissioner Faisalabad and Deputy Commissioner Mandi Bahauddin.

Sources indicate that Ashraf is also expected to assume additional charge as Chairman CDA, a position traditionally linked with the office of the Chief Commissioner Islamabad.

The change represents a significant administrative transition in Islamabad’s governance structure, as the Chief Commissioner plays a pivotal role in managing municipal administration, development planning, and oversight of the Capital Development Authority.
