Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb announced Tuesday that Pakistan received a record-breaking $3.1 billion in remittances during February 2025, signaling growing economic stability.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Aurangzeb projected that remittances would reach an unprecedented $36 billion by the fiscal year’s end.
“The Pakistani diaspora continues to be our country’s lifeline,” Aurangzeb said, extending the government’s appreciation to overseas Pakistanis. “The Prime Minister, cabinet, and entire government offer sincere thanks to our Pakistani brothers and sisters working abroad who send money back home.”
The Finance Minister delivered a wide-ranging assessment of Pakistan’s economic situation, noting that investor and business confidence has strengthened in response to government policies. He also highlighted improved outcomes resulting from recent institutional reforms.
The February remittance figures represent a significant milestone for Pakistan’s economy, which has faced numerous challenges in recent years. These funds from overseas workers provide crucial foreign exchange reserves and support thousands of families across the country.
