The Punjab government has officially restructured the province’s administrative framework, dividing it into 10 divisions, 41 districts, and 216 tehsils. The changes were formalized through a gazette notification issued by Governor Sardar Saleem Haider.
As part of the restructuring, the Gujarat division, which was initially established during Parvez Elahi’s tenure as chief minister but later abolished by Shehbaz Sharif, has been reinstated. Additionally, Murree and Talagang have been upgraded to full-fledged districts, marking a significant change in the province’s administrative landscape.
The updated divisions now include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur.
In light of these changes, authorities have decided to realign Punjab’s electoral constituencies to reflect the new administrative setup. The restructuring is aimed at improving governance and streamlining administrative operations across the province.
