In a significant development, the federal government has finalized a mandatory severance package for its employees, sources told Raised by Numbers. This new package will be implemented through amendments to the Civil Servants Act, of 1973, and will encompass all government employees without any exceptions or preferential treatment.
The Federal Cabinet has already approved an amendment integrating a Compulsory Retirement Package into the existing legislation. This policy is specifically designed for employees impacted by the abolition of ministries, dissolution of departments, and government mergers.
Under the new regulations, any civil servant whose position is abolished will qualify for the severance package. Affected employees will have the right to apply to a committee established by the Prime Minister within seven days of receiving notice of their dismissal. The committee is required to decide within 30 days of receiving the application.
The government has emphasized that accepting the severance package is mandatory. If civil servants decline the package, their employment will be terminated under the new rules. This amendment to the Civil Servants Act has also been reviewed and approved by the Cabinet Committee for Disposal of Legislative Cases.
