The Prime Minister has given the green light for the creation of a Digital Communication Department, aimed at countering anti-state propaganda, according to sources.

The department will focus on addressing national security threats and enhancing the government’s ability to detect and respond to digital threats. It will also conduct real-time monitoring of online activities to strengthen the country’s digital security framework.

A total of 54 positions have been allocated for the new department. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has requested an immediate release of Rs. 530 million to fund the initiative, sources revealed. The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) is expected to review and approve the release of these funds on December 19.
