In a sudden notification, the Government of Pakistan announced that all federal offices in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) will remain closed on Thursday, 9th April, under the ongoing four-day workweek policy.

However, the notification emphasizes that all officers and secretariat staff must work from home and remain on station, effectively ensuring government operations continue remotely. The closure extends into Friday, 10th April, marking the second day of the shortened workweek.

The directive applies across the Pakistan Secretariat, federal ministries, intelligence agencies, law enforcement, the judiciary, and financial departments, including the State Bank of Pakistan. The decision has been communicated for wide publicity through print and electronic media, highlighting the government’s efforts to streamline operations while reducing office hours.

Officials and analysts are observing how this policy affects productivity and daily administrative operations in the capital, especially as staff adapt to a mix of remote work and official presence requirements.
