The federal government has announced yet another increase in the prices of petroleum products, further intensifying the burden on consumers. According to a notification issued by the Finance Division, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs. 5.36 per liter, bringing it to Rs. 272.15 per liter. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has surged by Rs. 11.37 per liter, now standing at Rs. 284.35 per liter.
This marks the third consecutive hike in recent weeks. In the last fortnightly review, petrol prices were increased by Rs. 8.36 per liter to Rs. 266.79, while high-speed diesel saw a jump of Rs. 10.39 per liter to Rs. 272.98.
Earlier, during the mid-June review, the government had already raised petrol and high-speed diesel prices by Rs. 4.80 and Rs. 7.95 per liter, respectively.
