The federal government has decided not to privatize expo centers, citing increased revenue and improved management under government oversight. Mariam Khawar, CEO Expo Center, confirmed that these centers are now self-sufficient, generating revenue without the need for government funding.
She also announced the dismissal of the former Chief Finance Officer due to corruption allegations.
In related developments, the federal cabinet has approved the privatization of the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation and Saindak Metals Limited. Additionally, ENAR Petrotech Services Pvt Ltd is set to be dissolved.
Meanwhile, eight companies have shown interest in acquiring Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), as the process to privatize the airline is expected to be finalized by the end of October, according to the Minister.
The future of other state-owned entities, including Pakistan State Oil, Pak-Arab Refinery Limited, and the Sui Gas Companies, remains uncertain as the government continues to evaluate its privatization strategy.
