The federal government has announced significant relief for agricultural tube wells and electricity consumers using up to 300 units, aiming to ease the financial burden on farmers and low-income households.
Federal Minister for Energy (Power Division), Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, revealed that monthly fuel adjustment charges for these categories will be reduced. This decision marks a major step toward providing financial relief to vulnerable segments of society.
According to the Power Division spokesperson, the benefit of reduced fuel adjustment charges for consumers using up to 300 units was discontinued in June 2015, while the relief for agricultural tube wells was withdrawn even earlier, in December 2010. The Power Division has now formally requested the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to reinstate these adjustments.
The spokesperson emphasized that waiving these charges will help lower monthly electricity bills for both farmers and households with limited electricity consumption. This initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to support the agricultural sector and provide relief to low-usage electricity consumers.
