The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has decided to restrict gas supply to six hours a day as the ongoing gas shortage continues to disrupt domestic consumption.

In an official statement, the company said gas would now be supplied twice daily, primarily during breakfast and dinner hours, while remaining suspended in the afternoon due to low system pressure.

Sources said the revised schedule is aimed at ensuring availability during peak usage periods only, as supply constraints have made it difficult to maintain even the earlier three-time daily distribution pattern.

Officials added that even sustaining supply during the current two-time slots has become challenging amid severe shortages in the system.

The disruption has been attributed mainly to reduced liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports, which have affected the network’s ability to maintain consistent pressure.

Consumers have been urged to use gas sparingly, as the curtailed supply is expected to significantly impact daily routines.
