The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has reported a record surge in complaints against the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), with 7,919 cases filed in April 2025 alone—the highest number ever recorded in a single month.
According to data released by the FTO office on Tuesday, the total number of complaints lodged against the FBR so far in 2025 has reached 14,563. Of these, the FTO has resolved 6,938 cases.
The month-wise breakdown shows a sharp increase in taxpayer grievances: 1,736 complaints were filed in January, 2,747 in February, 2,144 in March, and a record 7,919 in April. The rising numbers reflect growing concerns over maladministration and alleged harassment of taxpayers by the FBR.
