Several major international airlines, including Air France and Germany’s Lufthansa, have suspended flights through Pakistani airspace en route to India, following heightened tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi after last month’s terror incident in Kashmir, Reuters reported.

Lufthansa Group confirmed that its carriers are avoiding Pakistani airspace until further notice, resulting in longer flight times. For example, Lufthansa flight LH760 from Frankfurt to New Delhi took nearly an hour longer on Sunday. Swiss International Air Lines is also accommodating affected passengers by rebooking missed connections at no extra charge.

Air France has similarly suspended overflights and adjusted schedules for routes to destinations such as Delhi, Bangkok, and Ho Chi Minh City, leading to increased travel times.

Flight-tracking data shows that British Airways, Swiss, and Emirates flights are now rerouting over the Arabian Sea before turning north to Delhi to avoid Pakistani airspace.

The airspace restrictions come as India has closed its airspace to Pakistani carriers, while Pakistan has banned Indian-operated aircraft, suspended trade, and halted special visas for Indian citizens. However, Pakistan continues to allow overflights by other international airlines.
