Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Mirza Iftikhar Baig informed the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue on Thursday that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had recovered over Rs. 80 million from the accounts of Kababjees restaurant in Karachi without granting the business an opportunity to be heard.
Baig highlighted growing concerns within the business community, describing the FBR’s actions as harassment and urging the committee to address the issue.
Chairman FBR Rashid Langrial assured the committee that he would investigate the circumstances surrounding the recovery and provide an update after consulting the relevant field office. The matter was raised during a committee session chaired by Nafeesa Shah, who acknowledged she was previously unaware of the case but promised to follow up once more information was available.
