The Regional Tax Office-1 (RTO-1) Karachi, under the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), has launched action against four wedding halls for failing to collect taxes as required under Section 236CB of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
Despite repeated directives to collect taxes from customers and deposit the amounts into the national treasury, the wedding halls failed to comply, prompting the FBR to take enforcement measures.
According to sources, the crackdown is part of a broader effort to expand the tax net and ensure compliance with tax laws. Authorities have warned that continued non-compliance could result in stricter actions, including legal proceedings and the sealing of non-compliant premises.
The FBR has reiterated its call for all wedding hall owners to fulfill their tax collection responsibilities, emphasizing the critical role of tax compliance in strengthening the national treasury and fostering a culture of adherence to tax laws.
