Faisalabad experienced a marked increase in begging activity during Eid-ul-Fitr, as men, women, and children took to streets, marketplaces, parks, and other public spaces in search of “Eidi” from residents celebrating the festival.

Groups of beggars were commonly seen outside mosques and Eidgahs after prayers, while elderly individuals and those with disabilities positioned themselves at busy intersections, traffic signals, and commercial areas to solicit donations. Others moved through residential neighborhoods, going from door to door.

The noticeable rise reflects ongoing socioeconomic challenges faced by vulnerable segments of society, prompting calls from observers for structured welfare initiatives and rehabilitation efforts to help reduce dependence on begging.

Despite this, the city maintained its festive spirit, with citizens continuing to celebrate Eid with generosity and a strong sense of community.
