On Wednesday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir addressed the business community in Karachi, urging them to prioritize national interests and increase their investments in Pakistan. He highlighted the country’s improved economic indicators compared to the previous year and projected further progress in 2024. Emphasizing the role of local investors, he stated, “Only a Pakistani can bail out Pakistan’s economy.”
General Munir stressed that Pakistan’s economic recovery relies on its citizens and dismissed concerns about potential default pressures, asserting that such actors have failed to impact the country significantly.
In his address, the army chief also linked illegal businesses to terrorism and emphasized the importance of safeguarding the country’s digital boundaries. He underscored that ensuring digital security is vital for both economic stability and national security.
During his visit to Karachi, General Munir also attended the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2024) at the Karachi Expo Centre. The event featured 557 exhibitors, including 333 international and 224 domestic participants from 36 countries.
A highlight of the exhibition was the unveiling of the Shahpar-III, a state-of-the-art combat Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) developed by Global Industrial Defence Solutions (GIDS) Pakistan. The UAV boasts an operational ceiling of 35,000 feet and a 24-hour endurance, capable of deploying bombs, missiles, and torpedoes, showcasing Pakistan’s advancements in defense technology.
