Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir met with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Investment, His Excellency Khalid Bin Abdulaziz Al Falih, to discuss initiatives aimed at enhancing the robust bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The meeting took place in Rawalpindi on Thursday, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The Saudi minister, accompanied by a high-level government and business delegation, called on General Munir to explore opportunities for collaboration across various sectors. During the meeting, General Munir expressed his deep appreciation for the unwavering support from His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman.
The visit of one of the largest Saudi business delegations to Pakistan underscores the enduring and fraternal ties between the two nations, General Munir noted. He emphasized the profound respect and affection that the people of Pakistan hold for Saudi Arabia and assured the delegation of Pakistan’s full support and commitment to fostering mutually beneficial outcomes.
The Saudi delegation arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday, welcomed by Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Privatization, and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan at Islamabad Airport. Minister Khan highlighted the significance of the visit as a milestone in the investment sector for both countries, noting that it would strengthen the deep-rooted ties and promote mutual business activities.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif informed the federal cabinet that Pakistan is set to sign agreements worth approximately $2 billion with Saudi Arabia. The visit aims to boost bilateral cooperation and economic partnership, as stated by Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch in her weekly briefing. The Saudi investment minister is also scheduled to meet with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during the three-day visit.
