Field Marshal General Asim Munir held a meeting with prominent members of Pakistan’s business community in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss the country’s economic outlook and policy concerns, according to informed sources.
The meeting, led by former caretaker federal minister Gohar Ijaz, included key figures such as APTMA Chairman Kamran Arshad, SM Tanveer, the President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), and representatives from the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
During the discussion, Gohar Ijaz highlighted recent signs of economic stability and expressed the business community’s support for the government’s ongoing economic policies. He emphasized the importance of creating a more business-friendly environment to sustain reforms and drive growth.
Ijaz also called for aligning interest rates with inflation to ease financial pressures on businesses. He raised concerns over the federal budget and advocated for an export-driven economic model to boost the country’s economic performance.
Focus on Agriculture and Promises from the Budget
Ijaz stressed the need to protect national cotton production and support farmers, urging the government to fulfill the commitments made during the budget speech.
