Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif presided over a special meeting where she granted in-principle approval for the creation of three new provincial authorities aimed at enhancing the region’s development, water, sanitation, and horticulture sectors. The proposed authorities include the Punjab Development Authority, Punjab Water & Sanitation Authority, and Punjab Horticulture Authority.

These authorities will be responsible for formulating policies and plans at the central level, while corresponding agencies will ensure the implementation of these initiatives at the local level. Formal legislation will be undertaken to establish these authorities officially.

During the meeting, proposals for the establishment of governing boards and director generals for the provincial authorities were reviewed. Additionally, the appointment of management boards and managing directors at the local level was discussed. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also directed the swift transition of streetlights to solar energy, emphasizing the government’s commitment to sustainable development.

The meeting was attended by Provincial Ministers Bilal Yasin and Zeeshan Rafique, along with the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary to the CM, relevant secretaries, and other senior officials. The Secretary of Housing and the Secretary of Local Government participated via video link, contributing to the comprehensive planning and discussion of these new initiatives
