The cement industry in Pakistan recorded a significant increase in local dispatches during January 2025, with volumes rising by 14 percent year-on-year (YoY) to 3.895 million tons, compared to 3.414 million tons in January 2024, according to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA).

Export dispatches also saw a sharp increase of 30 percent, with volumes climbing from 447,000 tons in January 2024 to 582,000 tons in January 2025. This growth highlights a strong recovery in export demand for Pakistani cement.

Despite the positive performance in January, total cement dispatches during the first seven months of FY25 (7MFY25) declined by 1.7 percent YoY to 26.827 million tons. Domestic dispatches during this period fell by 7.6 percent YoY, reflecting weaker local demand. However, exports showed robust growth, increasing by 31.5 percent YoY to 5.392 million tons.

Domestic dispatches in the North region rose by 11.9 percent YoY, while exports increased by 21.4 percent YoY. The South region also performed well, with local dispatches growing by 10.6 percent YoY and exports surging by 31.3 percent YoY.

The strong growth in January’s dispatches, particularly in exports, provides a positive outlook for the cement industry, despite the overall decline in total dispatches during the fiscal year so far.
