Babusar Top in the scenic Kaghan Valley has welcomed its first snowfall of the season, with a layer of one inch of snow blanketing the region. This early snowfall has brought a significant drop in temperatures, much to the delight of visitors, and marks the onset of winter in the area.
However, the picturesque snowfall is accompanied by heavy rains that have persisted for a second consecutive day in Balakot and Kaghan Valley. The relentless downpour has caused Manor Nullah to overflow once again, leading to flooding in Mahandri Bazaar.
The situation has been exacerbated by continuous rain, resulting in severe waterlogging throughout the area.
The rising water levels have temporarily halted traffic beyond Mahandri, although access to Kaghan Valley was restored once the waters receded. Earlier, flooding in Bhangian Nullah had forced the closure of the Kaghan Highway for several hours, causing long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road.
The Meteorological Department has forecasted that the rain will continue for another two days. In light of these conditions, authorities have issued advisories urging tourists and travelers to avoid non-essential trips and to exercise extreme caution on the roads during this period.
