Amazon’s ambitious Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite venture, Project Kuiper, is set to launch satellite broadband services in Pakistan by the end of 2026, aiming to expand high-speed internet access across the country, especially in underserved and remote regions.

The announcement follows a strategic meeting between Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and a delegation from Amazon’s Project Kuiper. The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) shared details of the development, highlighting its significance for Pakistan’s digital transformation.

Welcoming Amazon’s entry, Minister Khawaja said, “Project Kuiper’s arrival is a major step toward digital inclusion and strengthening our connectivity ecosystem. These investments align with the government’s vision of building a Digital Nation Pakistan, ensuring fast, affordable, and secure internet for all citizens.”

Project Kuiper plans to establish ground infrastructure in Pakistan, including gateways and points of presence (PoPs), to ensure reliable connectivity and seamless integration with the local digital ecosystem. With a planned constellation of up to 3,236 satellites, the project aims to deliver broadband speeds of up to 400 Mbps through affordable user terminals.

The collaboration is expected to boost Pakistan’s IT sector by improving connectivity, fostering innovation, and helping bridge the digital divide. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting global partnerships that advance the Prime Minister’s vision for a modern, inclusive, and connected Digital Pakistan.
