The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that a public holiday will be observed on Saturday, November 9, 2024, in honor of Iqbal Day. Consequently, commercial banks across the country will also remain closed on this day.
In an official circular, the central bank stated, “The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed on Saturday, November 9, 2024, being a public holiday on the occasion of Allama Iqbal Day, as declared by the Government of Pakistan.”
Iqbal Day is celebrated annually on November 9, marking the birth of Allama Iqbal, who is widely regarded as having inspired the Pakistan Movement. The day is observed with various events and activities that pay tribute to his contributions to literature and philosophy.
