The Flood Forecasting Division Lahore has issued urgent flood warnings for the River Chenab and River Ravi, urging authorities and residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.

According to the latest hydro-meteorological data, a high-level flood is anticipated in the River Chenab at Marala, Khanki, and Qadirabad. The water flow is expected to range between 200,000 to 250,000 cusecs over the next 24 hours. This warning also extends to the nullahs in the catchment areas of Rivers Chenab and Ravi.

Simultaneously, the River Ravi at Jassar and Shahdara is likely to experience a low-level flood, with water flow projected between 40,000 to 55,000 cusecs within the next 24 to 36 hours.

The Flood Forecasting Division in Lahore has disseminated these warnings to key government officials, including the Federal Minister of Aviation, the Secretary to the Prime Minister, and the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), among others.

Local authorities in Punjab, including the Chief Secretary and the Director General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), have also been alerted.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay informed through official channels and follow any evacuation or safety instructions issued by local authorities. The situation is being closely monitored, and further updates will be provided as necessary.
