The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has not received a single penny from the traders registered under the Tajir Dost Scheme, against a projection of Rs. 50 billion for 2024-25.
The FBR is expecting the first installment by August 15, 2024, from the 85,000 traders registered under the Tajir Dost Scheme.
A representative of the traders said that the current focus of the new scheme is to maximize the registration of small traders and shopkeepers across the country.
The FBR has also started issuing notices to traders for tax payments under the enforcement drive. However, the issue of tax payment can only be resolved through a national-level awareness campaign, he said.
The FBR has assured the business community that a simple income tax return form for traders in the Urdu language will be issued during the current week, he added.
