The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a comprehensive plan to curb the illegal use of mobile SIMs.

To tackle the issue, PTA has obtained data from NADRA to identify and block unauthorized SIMs. This move aims to prevent illegal activities and protect citizens’ data.

PTA will block illegal SIMs in three phases. The first phase will target SIMs registered with fake or canceled CNICs.

The second phase will focus on SIMs registered on expired CNICs, while the third phase will block SIMs registered in the names of deceased individuals.

This phase-wise approach ensures a systematic and efficient blocking process.

To inform subscribers, PTA has initiated a public awareness campaign, sending messages urging them to update their SIM data.

The authority emphasizes the importance of verifying and updating user information to avoid any inconvenience. The phase-wise blocking process will commence on August 16, marking a significant step towards a secure communication network.

PTA stresses that illegal SIM usage will not be tolerated, as fake SIMs are being used in various illegal activities. The authority is determined to eliminate this menace and ensure the integrity of the telecom sector.

By blocking illegal SIMs, PTA hopes to curb criminal activities and promote a safer digital environment.
