The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained ground for the second consecutive day against the US Dollar, opening trade at 278 in the interbank market. The rupee remained stable throughout the day and closed in the green against the greenback, also posting gains against most other major currencies during today’s session.

The interbank rate stayed at 278/$ for most of the day before closing at the same level. Open market rates across multiple currency counters were consistently at the 278 level.

The PKR appreciated by 0.05 percent, closing at 278.55 after gaining 13 paisas against the dollar today. On a fiscal year-to-date basis, the rupee has depreciated by 0.07 percent.

Overall, the rupee is down nearly Rs. 51.64 since January 2023 and Rs. 95.64 since April 2022. During today’s session, the PKR gained almost 14 paisas.

The PKR showed strength against most other major currencies in the interbank market today. It gained three paisas against the Saudi Riyal (SAR) and the UAE Dirham (AED), four paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD), and 63 paisas against the Euro (EUR).

However, it lost Rs. 1.24 against the Australian Dollar (AUD) and Rs. 1.55 against the British Pound (GBP) in today’s interbank currency market.
