The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved Rs. 275 billion in additional funding for water sector projects being handled by the Ministry of Water Resources.

The decision was made at an ECC meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Finance Division in Islamabad on Wednesday.

According to a Finance Division press release, the Technical Supplementary Grant (TSG) will finance key water infrastructure development and support ongoing projects.

The committee considered 11 agenda items submitted by various ministries and government divisions during the meeting. However, the Finance Division did not disclose which specific water projects would receive the Rs. 275 billion or provide details of how the amount would be distributed.

The approval was part of a broader set of financial decisions covering development projects and government operations across different sectors.

The ECC also sanctioned additional funds for defence-related projects, approved a village gasification programme for settlements near gas fields and took other sectoral decisions.

Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kiyani and senior government officials attended the meeting.
