The federal government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs. 3.19 per litre to Rs. 376.06 for October 27, according to the latest update from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
The price of high-speed diesel (HSD), however, has increased by Rs. 2.25 per litre to Rs. 398.07.
The latest revision follows Monday’s increase, when petrol became more expensive by Rs. 1.54 per litre to Rs. 379.25, while diesel prices rose by Rs. 2.16 to Rs. 395.82 per litre.
Fuel prices have fluctuated significantly since the government introduced daily revisions. Petrol has increased by Rs. 65.35 per litre since the start of the daily pricing period, while diesel has become more expensive by Rs. 74.77 per litre.
Despite the latest reduction, petrol remains above its pre-daily-pricing level of Rs. 310.71 per litre recorded for July 11-17. Diesel is also substantially more expensive than its earlier rate of Rs. 323.30 per litre.
Petrol prices reached a recent high of Rs. 398.96 per litre on October 8 before declining over the following days. Diesel, meanwhile, peaked at Rs. 424.92 per litre on September 17 and has since fallen considerably, despite the latest increase.
