Former adult film actress Lana Rhoades has criticized the adult entertainment industry, claiming it favors very young-looking women and puts performers under pressure to participate in scenes they are uncomfortable with.
In a video shared by RT on X, Rhoades said she looked “like a little kid” when she entered the industry and claimed that younger-looking performers were more likely to attract demand.
She also described distressing experiences during filming, saying she sometimes gagged or cried when her face was not visible to the camera. She said performers had limited control over choosing their co-stars and recalled feeling disgusted by some of the people she worked with.
Rhoades added that some scenes felt like assault to her because she did not want to participate but remained silent to maintain a professional image.
Rhoades Says Women Face Pressure to Comply
Rhoades said many women, including people she knows personally, struggle to refuse requests in the industry. She attributed some of this pressure to social expectations that women should be obedient and to agents who may not prioritize performers’ interests.
Why Lana Rhoades Left the Industry
Rhoades, whose real name is Amara Maple, entered the adult film industry in 2016 at the age of 19 and left after approximately eight months. She has since spoken publicly about her experiences and criticized the industry.
On her 3 Girls 1 Kitchen podcast, she previously said that three to five scenes were particularly traumatic and contributed to her decision to quit. She has also expressed regret about her past videos, saying she would remove them if she had the legal rights to do so.
Adult Content Remains a Subject of Debate
The issue of online adult content has also drawn attention in Pakistan. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) previously reported more than 20 million daily attempts to access pornographic websites.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has considered legalizing adult content creation as a potential source of revenue amid its war with Russia.
