The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will extend the deadline for filing income tax returns for tax year 2026, sources told RBN.
The official notification is expected to be issued soon.
This will be the second extension this year following requests from trade bodies and tax bar associations.
Taxpayers have faced repeated technical problems while filing returns through FBR’s IRIS portal. Users have reported slowdowns, glitches, errors in return forms, and issues with the minimum tax calculation formula.
The Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA) had urged the FBR to extend the deadline until December 2, citing persistent problems with the IRIS portal and errors affecting return submissions.
Around 6.9 million income tax returns have been filed so far.
More to follow.
