The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified that pension payments will not be suspended simply because a pensioner did not obtain a proof-of-life certificate in September.

The clarification addresses concerns among pensioners who feared that missing the certificate requirement could lead to their monthly payments being stopped.

Speaking in a podcast, NADRA Public Information Officer Syed Shabahat Ali said failure to obtain a proof-of-life certificate from NADRA would not, on its own, result in pension suspension.

He said the Government of Pakistan has decided that pension payments cannot be stopped solely because a pensioner has not obtained the certificate from NADRA.

The decision covers retired employees of different institutions, including former Army and other armed forces personnel, as well as retirees of federal and provincial government departments, according to the official.

He added that pension payments would also not be suspended on this basis for retirees of institutions that have not yet contacted NADRA to provide proof-of-life certificate services.

NADRA is working with relevant institutions to facilitate proof-of-life certificates for pensioners.
