The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, thunderstorms, strong winds and hailstorms in several parts of the country as a weather system is expected to enter Pakistan on Monday night.
According to the PMD’s latest forecast issued on October 5, the western weather system is likely to remain in the country until October 7.
In Punjab and Islamabad, rain with thunderstorms and strong winds is expected on October 6 and 7 in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Faisalabad. Hail is also possible at some locations.
Several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to receive rain with thunderstorms and strong winds from Monday night through October 7. These include Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and Waziristan.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are also expected to receive rain with strong winds and thunderstorms at some locations on October 6 and 7. Hail is possible at some places in Kashmir.
In Balochistan, most areas are expected to remain hot and dry on October 6. However, rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is possible in Zhob, Barkhan and Musa Khel.
Most parts of Sindh are expected to remain hot and dry over the next few days.
The PMD warned that strong winds, thunderstorms and hail could damage property and other outdoor structures. Temperatures are also expected to fall by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius during the period.
The department has advised all relevant authorities to remain alert and take necessary measures to deal with any adverse situation.
