Pakistan has secured an additional allocation to export 70,000 metric tons of rice to Malaysia from October to December 2026 following government-led diplomatic and trade efforts.
The Prime Minister’s Office said the additional export opportunity was secured through coordinated efforts by the relevant ministries and government authorities.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the development and said the new allocation would provide an important opportunity for Pakistani farmers and support the national economy.
He also appreciated Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, the ministers of National Food Security and Research and Commerce, and the secretaries of both ministries for their efforts in securing the additional allocation.
The Prime Minister said expanding access to international markets for Pakistani agricultural products remains a key government priority.
He added that the government would continue using diplomatic and trade engagement to increase exports and support an export-led growth strategy.
