The Pakistani rupee (PKR) extended its winning streak against the US dollar to 253 consecutive trading days on Friday, strengthening further against the greenback.

The rupee closed at 277.07, gaining 3.08 paisas against the US dollar during the session. It has continued to strengthen against the dollar since December 25, 2025.

At the current pace, the rupee could move into the 276 range against the dollar in the coming sessions.

The rupee also strengthened against several major currencies. It gained Rs. 1.23 against the euro, 45.64 paisas against the British pound and 2.14 paisas against the Australian dollar.

However, the rupee weakened by 11.50 paisas against the Canadian dollar and lost 3.40 paisas against the Malaysian ringgit.

The rupee remained broadly stable against the Chinese yuan, UAE dirham and Saudi riyal.
