Umar Ahsan Khan, CEO and Managing Director of Dawlance (Private) Limited, has been elected president of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) for the 2026 to 2028 term.
The new leadership was elected during the chamber’s Extraordinary General Meeting held on Tuesday.
Ahmed Zahid Zaheer, Country Chairman and General Manager of Chevron Lubricants Pakistan (Private) Limited, has been elected Senior Vice President, while Dr. Syed Amir Ali, President and CEO of Meezan Bank Limited, will serve as Vice President.
Khan succeeds Yousaf Hussain, who led the chamber during the 2024 to 2026 term. Hussain said the progress made toward economic stability should now be followed by stronger investment, exports, productivity and employment generation.
Speaking after his election, Khan said OICCI would base its advocacy efforts on evidence and practical policy recommendations. He noted that improving macroeconomic stability could support investor confidence, but said the broader business environment would ultimately influence investment decisions.
Khan also highlighted the decline in foreign direct investment, which fell 34 percent to $1.65 billion during the last fiscal year.
During the 2026 to 2028 term, the new managing committee will work with the government, regulators and international institutions on investment and policy matters. Its agenda will also cover research and policy issues related to climate, technology, artificial intelligence, diversity and inclusion.
The new managing committee includes Umar Ahsan Khan of Dawlance, Ahmed Zahid Zaheer of Chevron Pakistan Lubricants, Dr. Syed Amir Ali of Meezan Bank, Ahsan Zafar Syed of Engro Corporation, Amin Mohammad Khowaja of J.P. Morgan Pakistan, Erum Shakir Rahim of GlaxoSmithKline Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad Khan of Habib Metropolitan Bank, Sami A. Wahid of Coca-Cola Export Corporation, Syed Anis Ahmed of Abbott Laboratories Pakistan and Syed Kashan Hasan of FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan.
