Hub Power Company (HUBC) reported a loss of Rs. 33 million from its investment in the BYD Pakistan project during the quarter ended June 2026.
The latest result marks a sharp change from the profits recorded in the previous quarters.
| Quarter | Profit / (Loss) |
|---|---|
| Mar 2025 | Rs. 222 million |
| Sep 2025 | Rs. 114 million |
| Dec 2025 | Rs. 54 million |
| Mar 2026 | Rs. 0.5 million |
| Jun 2026 | (Rs. 33 million) |
The loss in the June 2026 quarter was mainly attributed to higher marketing and administrative expenses related to the project.
HUBC has invested Rs. 6.6 billion, equivalent to around $23 million, in the BYD project as of FY2026.
The company’s total committed equity for the project stood at $30 million at the end of FY2026.
The figures show that HUBC’s returns from the BYD investment have declined considerably over the past year, with the project moving from a Rs. 222 million profit in March 2025 to a Rs. 33 million loss in June 2026.
