Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves increased by nearly $1.2 billion in the week ended September 4, 2026, according to the latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
SBP-held reserves climbed to $18.3 billion during the week, compared with $17.118 billion a week earlier, marking an increase of around $1.2 billion.
The country’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves also rose to $23.716 billion, up $1.187 billion from the previous week.
Of the total, $18.3 billion was held by the SBP, while commercial banks held $5.388 billion. Reserves maintained by commercial banks declined by $22.5 million during the week.
At the latest level, Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves provide roughly 2.74 months of import cover.
