The government has highlighted Rs. 51.13 billion in housing loans disbursed under the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Programme, even as approved financing under the scheme has reached Rs. 351.3 billion.
As of September 4, 2026, a total of 60,349 housing finance cases had been approved, while only 9,717 loans had actually been disbursed. The overall approval rate stands at 38.5 percent, with the average approved loan amount at around Rs. 5.26 million.
Approved financing increased by Rs. 38.3 billion, or more than 12 percent, in just one week.
The government is now focusing on speeding up disbursements so that approved financing can translate into actual housing construction and purchases.
The Apna Ghar Programme, launched under the slogan “Ghar Ho To Apna,” provides eligible Pakistanis with financing to buy, construct, or complete a house.
The scheme offers loans of up to Rs. 10 million for a period of up to 20 years, with a fixed interest rate of 5 percent for the first 10 years.
The government says the housing finance program is also expected to generate wider economic activity by increasing demand for construction materials such as cement and steel while supporting allied industries, small and medium-sized businesses, and employment.
However, the gap between approved and disbursed financing remains significant. Despite Rs. 351.3 billion in approved financing, only Rs. 51.13 billion has so far reached borrowers.
