Pakistan and Türkiye have agreed to strengthen defense cooperation and regional security coordination following a meeting between Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Güler in Istanbul.
The two ministers met ahead of the inaugural meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee, established under the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
The meeting focused on expanding bilateral defense cooperation and improving coordination on regional security matters.
The trilateral committee will provide a platform for Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia to coordinate on strategic, political and defense issues.
Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu also attended the meeting.
The talks are part of efforts by the three countries to deepen strategic and defense ties under the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement.
