Mobile users will get more time to use their prepaid balance as the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has introduced a minimum 180-day validity period for all prepaid recharges.
The new requirement will apply to all mobile operators from October 1, 2026. It will standardize balance validity across the telecom industry and prevent users from losing prepaid credit after shorter periods.
PTA has also addressed cases where balance has already expired. If a customer recharges the same number while the SIM remains active, the expired balance will be restored under the applicable consumer protection rules.
The regulator said the move is intended to strengthen consumer rights and ensure fair treatment of prepaid subscribers.
PTA added that it will continue working to promote a competitive telecom market while protecting consumers.
