The government has approved Rs. 567.032 million (Rs. 56.7 crore) to cover security expenses for the Reko Diq mining project in Balochistan.

The approval was granted by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet during its meeting on Monday, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.

The approved amount will be paid as security charges to Headquarters Frontier Corps Balochistan (South) for the Reko Diq project.

The funding was among the agenda items approved by the ECC as the government continues preparations for the development of the major copper and gold mining project.

Reko Diq is one of Pakistan’s largest mineral development projects and is expected to play a significant role in the country’s mining and export sectors.
